Staying at the Thayer Hotel at West Point is a comfortable and wonderful experience overlooking the Hudson River. One can easily understand its strategic position in the Revolutionary war.

Happy Veteran’s Day November 11th 2011

Karla drew this nice picture of her vet sister Kristin

Nothing takes the place of a sincere thank you to all those who serve… but we do hope you all find this picture pleasing and makes you smile as it did me!

Remember those who maintain our freedom and preserve our ability to choose and our way of life.

Happy Veteran’s Day!

Happy Birthday Kristin!

Above is a drawing by Karla of Kristin and she is surrounded by blasts from her past: top is of Kristin as she appears today, followed by her as an itty bitty Kristin with Mom and Uncle Leroy... then, a picture of her as a platoon leader during the Invasion of Iraq... and on the bottom is a picture of some Vino that she and I made to be consumed when she returned from her last tour.

Happy Birthday, Kristin! I am looking forward to you joining me in the kitchen this Christmas! BTW… the ribs are getting better day-by-day!

Happy Birthday!

May the fourth be with you!

What's on your grill???

Well, we always enjoy the fourth of July and all of the celebrations associated with it! Of course, most ‘celebrations’ in our family center around what we are baking, grilling , stewing, smoking, sauteing or cooking!

Nothing says the fourth to me like: hamburgers, hotdogs, chips and salsa, baked beans… and cake!

Enjoy the day!

U.S. Army a Happy 236th Birthday!

Karla drew a nice picture to celebrate the Army's 236th Birthday... CLICK on the link to see what they are saying about it!

Here’s a partial quote:

“Two hundred and thirty-six years ago, the United States Army was established to defend our Nation. From the Revolutionary War to the current operations taking place around the world, our Soldiers remain Army Strong with a deep commitment to our core values and beliefs. This 236th birthday commemorates America’s Army – Soldiers, Families and Civilians – who are achieving a level of excellence that is truly Army Strong. Being Army Strong goes beyond physical endurance and mental preparedness. It encompasses an indomitable spirit, and high ethical and moral values. These are not only desirable traits in a person, but in a Nation that wishes to live up to the ideals and vision of its founders. We are “America’s Army: The Strength of the Nation.””
