iPad envy and the ios4 or iPhone

iPad envy is an ugly thing
there is no cure for iPad envy except to buy one!

The iPad was introduced at the beginning of April and the more important (to me) version of the 3G wireless was introduced by the end of the month April 30th! This has been an amazingly useful tool. Karen wrote a blog post in which she describes how useful the  iPad has been in her life.

Oh, I have heard it all! Some folks talk about waiting until the iPad has all of it’s bugs worked out, some talk about the price and some say it doesn’t ‘do enough’ to make the purchase worthwhile. The last point has some merit because if the iPad did more than just Skype then the iPhone would be little more than a convenience.

So, now we are seeing that a lot of folks missed the ipad boat and thought they’d upgrade their phone and get a mini-iPad in the new iPhone or ios4. Unfortunately, for Apple, it appears that  ATT hasn’t really gotten their act together or they were caught flat footed with the incredible pressure for this remarkable new phone.

A.T. & T. and the ios4 or iPhone 4

For whatever reason, A.T. & T. has been given the exclusive ‘golden’ apples in the form of the  iPhone  and the iPad and … they have once again underestimated demand and they were unprepared. Hopefully this situation is being addressed  at A.T. & T. … along with more competitive pricing.

Congratulations to Apple once again, very impressive.

creamy pumpkin pie!
A very rich and creamy pumpkin pie!

Okay, I have been fiddling with one of America’s favorite and sacred recipes… the Pumpkin Pie! Basically, I prefer more eggs and more cream and a slightly different blend of pumpkin style spices!

havin a party

the many sides of Kristin
the many sides of our daughter Kristin

I understand the saying that ‘we only borrow our children’ better now that they are living their lives. However, when they swing by to say hello to the ol folks, it’s nice to throw them a little party. With Kristin home this weekend , we’ll be able to fix her all the things she enjoys:  barbecued ribs,  hamburgers, baked beans, chips and salsa, brownies, pies… and a few Greek alternatives at the party as well:  baklavamoussakatiropetes, a Greek salad and  dolmades.  Have I missed anything? Probably!

Oh yes, the right beverages will be here too!

nothin like home cooked ribs

nothing like home cooked ribs

One of the favorite family favorites is making our own home cooked ribs … or bbq ribs if you prefer that term.

I don’t know which of my daughters love ribs the most, but it is always something they ask for when they touch home base. Kristin is flying by on her way back to more graduate school, but staying long enough to cook and bake with the ol folks.By the way, it takes a bit of doing to get the ribs right… but it is well worth the effort. Click on the picture above to see how we make them.
