Coach Dad gets a special mug

Karen wanted to give me something special for a belated Father's Day present! CLICK on the picture to see who made it!

 

Karen is now all grown up and teaching at the University of Louisville and looks back fondly to her 10 years in track and field. In those days,  Karen  called me ‘Coach Dad” which was very sweet. While in Annenberg graduate school she finished her last year of eligibility as a Southern California Trojan and their record holder in the women’s shot put. She made the cup in cardinal not only because the Cardinal is the symbol of the University of Louisville… but because — to me — it represents my fondness for the Trojans.

Karen gave some special mugs to her professors at Tennessee to celebrate her Ph.D… and she wanted something for me ,too.  Thanks, Karen

pottermore: for the harry potter fans in our lives

The virtual world of Pottermore

I think there might be a few people in the world who don’t know who Harry Potter is or the heroic story of his existence… but most of these folks are boring. In any event, you can register to buy on-line books and participate in a variety of  safe on-line experiences. Here is what J.K. Rowling writes about it:

“Pottermore is a free website that builds an exciting online experience around the reading of the Harry Potter books. Come back on 31st July to find out how you can get the chance to enter Pottermore early.”

May the fourth be with you!

What's on your grill???

Well, we always enjoy the fourth of July and all of the celebrations associated with it! Of course, most ‘celebrations’ in our family center around what we are baking, grilling , stewing, smoking, sauteing or cooking!

Nothing says the fourth to me like: hamburgers, hotdogs, chips and salsa, baked beans… and cake!
