Social Media Textbook

Its a bit surprising when a textbook and a workbook shoots up the rankings to #2 and #3 among Amazons listings in Journalism! My daughter Karen has done a wonderful job in pulling together all the strings of Social Media… including such relevant topics as Social Media and the law and ethics, crisis communication among other subjects.

Karen’s book was designed for teachers who want to help their students get that highly sought after Social Media job. It was designed with the practitioner in mind.

Karen embraced the internet back in the early 90’s with a website and an on-line newsletter read around the world. The rest is history!

Chappellet Wine

Back in the 70’s my favorite relatively favorite Cabernet was Chateau Margaux… unfortunately over $500 a bottle nowadays.

However, even then I searched for and American version and enjoyed Chappellet wines. Smooth and elegant and never harsh. Let’s just say I could find and more until now and assumed it was something wonderful now relegated to the past.

I’ve ordered some on-line and I am anxious to see how it compares with memory.

Karen Freberg Social Media Textbook

My Daughter Karen travels the world speaking on social media topics. I’ve even sat in her class and learned a lot… her students are lucky to have her. It’s a tough class and she preinterviews each student to see if they understand the commitment.

She’s at @AEJMC18 introducing her new book on social media. She wrote everything associated with her book… a big project! She finds business cards unmemorable… so she hands out free mousepads or as she says “a place for your coffee mug… it has many uses!”

Good luck Karen!

Living with Authors

Everyone in my family writes something. Laura writes lovely Psychology textbooks. These are books that you actually read; books I can actually hear her voice. I’m not the only one, her students often say the same thing! She writes as though your listening from a comfy fireside chair…

Our daughter Karen has just started writing and I am real glad she did! She writes social media textbooks in a way even I can understand it! Her book comes out this summer.

I maybe an overly proud papa, but Kristin’s writing is confined to military stuff. She had something to do with writing the plan on the Iraqi drawdown. I maybe giving her too much credit or not enough… but she is a great writer.

The tell me I should write my novel “Last Tango in San Luis”… but when I joke about the characters they think it’s too close to the real folks here! I guess I could use names no one has heard of… Dr Bravestone and Ruby Roundhouse killer of men??

Anyway, it all makes them happy! Write on!!

A heart bypass or seven

When we are young and lucky, we visit a doctor only as necessary… but as we get older, we require maintenance and often an update or two.

My first heart issue occurred as an athlete… and I thought I could work around it… or as one of my doctors said,” you can put bandaids around it but not forever.”

Recently my EKG looked good as usual but another test showed the reality of the situation durning my stress test… and my doctor confirmed the diagnosis.

Here’s another mans story that raised a smile with me
