Trojans Clobbered Notre Dame on the field… and in the stands!

this is the way it was... Southern California Trojans... scoring on offense, defense, special teams... virtually everywhere at will
“No greater love a father hath than he who gives up his ticket for his daughter…”

Well, my eldest daughter was in town and it was really great that she came over…. but then… she took my ticket!!! arrggg!

Actually, I was happy that she and Karen and Mom saw the game live…. while, I watched it on the plazma. It was great… but not quite the same.

Interestingly enough, a few Notre Dame fans showed up and occupied the seats in front of my crowd… the only trouble was … it wasn’t their seats. So, when the real ticketholders arrived… a ‘problem’ arose whereby the apparently several drunk “Irish” fans threw the greying middleaged Trojan ticketholder over three rows down… not a smart thing to do in a sea of crimson. Only his dignity seemed to be hurt. The cops and security arrived quickly and escorted the guilty out… but thanks to Kristin’s quick thinking in containing the situation… no one got too bruised.

Dad'll be sold on ebay long before Laura lets go of this! The day started off in great fashion as Karen presented her mother with a superfans’ greatest treasure… and autographed football. Not just any football or just any autograph… but a Southern California Trojan Football signed by USC Atheletic Director  and the Trojans’ first Heisman Trophy Winner Mike Garrett!

So, as far as football weekends go… this one was okay… could it have been better… hell, yes!… I could have been there!

However, the ‘raison half of me” realizes that given the bad manners of some of the Irish fans… it was just as well I wasn’t there… well, I am glad Kristin was able to handle things and not me.

Here’s a couple of great stories on THE game!

Fight On for ‘ol S.C. Trojans ! Beat Notre Dame !

never give up!Most of us can remember some really great football games… in fact, every generation has them.

Whether it be ‘Mr. Inside and Mr. outside’ taking apart every team in the country on the way to Heisman trophies & National Championships… or watching Gary Beban (UCLA) and O.J. (USC) fight it out in the Coliseum… there have been and will be many great spectacles! Notre Dame and the Southern California Trojans always produce something to talk about… and many times, one of us can be found in the playoffs of the National Championships!

Certainly, when comebacks are talked about… one can not forget the great come from behind victory of the Trojans over the Irish a generation ago.

Fighting, never giving up… the drama… the excitement… is what makes great rivalries so important, so memorable…. and so much fun.

The BIG Rivalry Game day is now apon us!

The time for talk, trash talk and speculation is for yesterday.

Today …. today is the day to waken all those Trojans, old Trojans of the past and unite the entire Trojan Nation… for today is special… it’s time to fight the Irish!

Fight On!

On a Wii quest with Laura….er…” Link”

who is Link and who is Laura? They are looking surprisingly the same now-a-days!With all this talk about Thanksgiving and football, it is important to remember that this past week has also seen an incredible pair of events… from a ‘marketing perspective’– in the launching of two major ‘gaming platforms.’ Even in a Zelda Universe it is impressive!

Do I need to mention what they were? If you don’t know, at least, pretend that you do.

Probably, video gaming is one of the favorite group activities that our family has enjoyed… and Laura and I have played together since the introduction of ‘pong’. For those who can remember, they were even placed in the lounge area of 747 Jumbo jets…. there were lines then, too!

After ‘pong’ came a plethora of video game platforms… Atari and Commodore were two of the most memorable. Most young males of the time found their ways into convenience stores where in the early ’80’s one of the most futuristic games was introduced… “Dragon’s Lair”. At the time, I was a Marketing guy who placed these games into our stores and my 3 year old daughter Kristin would play all of them them in our warehouse… I knew “Dragon’s Lair” (audio) was going to be a success after she completed a 4 hour marathon to conquer it ( set on ‘unlimited lives’). Interestingly enough, our order – as I remember — helped keep their company afloat.

What followed was a trail of platforms each more powerful than the next… and we had them all. Nintendo, Sony and even the short lived but technologically superior “Jaguar” found their ways into our home and our hearts. So, why would it be any different today?

Well, my wife Laura is playing the latest version of Zelda on the latest Nintendo Platform… what a great way to celebrate the 37th year anniversary of our first date. play on!

Here’s what others are saying:

Southern California Trojans, Notre Dame & TURDUCKEN!

Two Trojan Fans gearing up for the big rivalry game!As if Thanksgiving wasn’t enough to look forward to… we have a football rivalry that could no doubt determine WHO goes to play for the National Championship.

Thanksgiving this year wouldn’t be complete without a TURDUCKEN! Obviously, ol dad has his knives sharpened, his stuffing ready to go and everything else that makes the season memorable!

Kristin is flying over and will go to THE game with us… I am sure that she is earning the envy of all she knows on the big island of Oahu.

As for THE game… here’s what others are saying:

He’s siding with the RIGHT side!
Rootin for USC to lose
a little Trojan in his pants?
Irish Dream: 38 Notre Dame 37 Trojans
sneak Matt Leinart into the game? huh
the biggest rivalry of them all! USC- Notre Dame

Of course, the smartest Notre Dame fans don’t try to shake the Trojan Horse before the game…. Notre Dame Coach Charlie Weis offers ‘praise’ for the Trojans… hmmmm…

Well, a lot of folks dissing the Trojans… Irish & Wolverines mostly for their own advantage. However, let me say this… no matter how much Urban ‘the legend’ Myer complains… Florida aint that good — besides, after the last of the Zook recruits leaves this year, he’ll have a tough time against the likes of South Florida. As for Michigan… you lost, get over it. Praying for a rematch this late in the game is just boring. Rutgers, Virginia Tech, and Louisville can we say ‘overated?”

The worst the Trojans can do is the Rose Bowl… and that is the ‘Grand Daddy” of them all!

So… let the games begin!

Fight On!

It’s NOW time for the Southern California Trojans and the Irish of Notre Dame!

Edna gives her full attention to the Trojans! Cal and the Southern California football game?

Nah, I never live in the past… it detracts from the now! And the ‘now’ means Notre Dame! Well, we have tickets and I expect that no matter which way the game goes we will see a spectacular football game!

When you think about college football rivalries… there is — of course — Harvard and Yale, Army and Navy… but Southern California Trojans and Notre Dame ranks as one of the best!

Year after year, the winner of this game often ends up fighting for the national championship!

SOoooO… Looking ahead…. I am glad I have tickets!

Fight on!
