A special Quiche will make YOU smile!

into the oven with our special quiche

Sometimes it takes something special to bring out a smile.

Some people act silly, some tell stories… however, I find that it’s hard not to smile facing a beautiful meal and a smile. So I set out to do something that would make my wife smile… I had been working on it for some time… something that would appeal to her special love of ‘cheese.’

So, with 246 varieties of cheese in France , I thought something from there? Nope it was German. What was this cheesey dish?

Quiche!

So here is what  I made for Laura...  it made her smile… which was the point of it all.

How I will remember Leroy Sievers

When someone passes away, it affects us.

Leroy Sievers’s public persona as reflected in his  blog (NPR)  and previously in his newsletter (Nightline)… was not all that different from who he was as a boy. My fondest memory of Leroy is watching him react and cring when his sister would refer to him by a pet family name… “baby Leroy.” He was the youngest of four with three older – and I am told – ‘wiser’ sisters.

Leroy Sievers was born in 1955 in this remarkable family… most remarkable in producing my wife Laura.

Here are a couple pictures from some long gone days that I hope will make you smile:
Laura and Leroy in our first home ni 1980... Laura and I had been married 8 years and were blesed with our first child

I seem to remember that Leroy ( about age 25) pretending to not remember what kind of beverage I was serving him.

Our daughter Kristin was checking out her uncle Leroy in a most characteristic way... as if to say,
Leroy, Kristin and Laura each studying the other.

There is never enough time….. Goodbye, Leroy
