Coffee is Life!

A single servnig coffee pot!

Every couple has a battle ground… and we are not an exception. The coffee pot isn’t big enough for the two of us! I keep asking Laura to do a ‘Coffee fast’… but she just gives me ‘the look.’

Confidentially, we do have a 100 cup percolator coffee maker … but we keep it in the garage as it is slightly more than the needs of the two of us… only slightly. When our daughters come home… the coffee pot is going continuously… I guess it could be worse.

My girls love the quantity of coffee… but they are very particular about the quality… they enjoy their coffee mild ( which I suspect the reason is because of the higher caffeine content… or did you already know that?)

Ahhhh… I think I want another cup of coffee!

Romney Passes the Baton

Governor Mitt Romney

Governor Mitt Romney passed the baton in a way that is characteristically UN-politician like. Some skeptical folks might guess is that it is because he is funding his candidacy mostly or part out of his own pocket… but my guess this is the mark of a shrewed businessman who knows how to cut his losses and come out smelling like a rose.

Governor Romney has always impressed me… now, more than ever.

John McCain & the Reagan Coalition

the NEW Reagan Coalition
What’s not to like about John McCain?

John brings together the same groups that Ronald Reagan did back in 1980. His attractiveness to each group is a bit different that President Reagan, John has many more moderates and folks on the left… but the coalition is in many significant ways… the same.

Now, I do understand that there are some vocal ‘conservatives’ that want to turn themselves into ‘suicide voters’ by supporting democrats… but these are your ‘abortion-is-everything’ conservatives and neither side of this debate can swing this election…. though the ‘social conservatives’ may try by linking to other issues they may feel are sexy with the voters… but the coalition behind McCain is formidable. bring it!

Of course, John McCain might throw a bone by putting a social conservative on the ticket as President Reagan did by placing a liberal Republican on his ticket. We shall see… politics makes such strange bedfellows.

Besides, a ‘suicide’ voter is already dead from the neck up.

The Superbowl was better than the Ads!

don't you just love em?
This year’s Superbowl was exciting, so maybe that is why the ads didn’t stand out so much? Some of the ads were good… but far too… too reserved for the superbowl.
Personally, I always love ads that emphasize male distinctiveness… like the guy who hides a six pack Budweiser in a cheese wheel for his friends at a wine and cheese party! However, nothing came close to the ‘magic refrigerator’ of superbowl past… which is a ‘classic.’

‘Trojan Will’ always makes me laugh… this time as ‘Jackie Moon” in a collection of outakes for Budweiser. If you haven’t seen them…  Check this out!
